Step 1: Prerequisite
The user importing the North52 solution will need to have the System Administrator security role.
Step 2: Install and Accept License
The North52 BPA solution can be downloaded from the following location:
https://www.north52.com/download-solution/
The installation and configuration process is shown in the video below.
Step 3: Configure Security Roles
As part of the installation three security roles are created within your Dynamics 365 system:
- North52 Formula Manager - Administrator
- North52 Formula Manager - Standard
- North52 TestShield - Administrator
These security roles enable administrators to control and restrict which users can interact with North52 table records within the system.
North52 Formula Manager - Administrator
This security role is to be assigned to any users of the system that need to perform create/update/delete operations on North52 formula related records (e.g. Formulas, xCache, Schedules) within the system. Review details of the privileges assigned in this role.
North52 Formula Manager - Standard
This is the standard security role which allows users to read Formula data and therefore execute formulas when an action is carried out. This security role should be assigned to ALL users of the system that do not have the North52 Formula Manager - Administrator role. Review details of the privileges assigned in this role.
North52 TestShield - Administrator
This security role is to be assigned to any users of the system that need to perform create/update/delete operations on North52 test related records (e.g. Test, TestData, TestRunner) within the system.
Note 1: When a user has the System Administrator role within Dynamics 365 then there is no requirement to assign any of the North52 roles.
Note 2: As a requirement typically ALL users of the system should have at least the 'North52 Formula Manager - Standard' role assigned.
Note 3: Any of these security roles can be assigned to users via the normal Microsoft tools at make.powerapps.com website. More details available at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/assign-security-roles
